The new Grades Transfer system will make transferring grades from BBU to SITS simpler and faster.
Grades Transfer allows staff to select modules in Blackboard and e-Vision, and transfer grades en-masse from one to the other. Grades Transfer reduces the chances of transcription errors, as well as speeding up the entire process.
By streamlining the process, you’ll now be able to transfer large batches of grades—up to 200 at a time—in just minutes, drastically reducing the need for manual entry and freeing up valuable time.

One Potential Workflow: Transferring Grades that aren’t marked out of 100
If you are wanting to transfer grades for an assignment/test that isn’t marked out of 100, you may be able to use Blackboard’s Calculated Fields. For example, you have a test that is graded out of 50. You can use a “calculated value” to multiply the score by 2. The caveat to this is that it will only work if the calculation produces a whole number.
Worked Example: a test marked out of 50:
- In the module, navigate to the Gradebook
- Hover your mouse where you want to create the calculated field. Click the plus icon and select Add Calculation
- Rename the calculation to something meaningful
- In the Functions and Variables panel, click Variable. Now, in the main window, a small box will appear labelled Select Item. Click this and select the appropriate item (in this case, the Test)
- Now, in the Operators panel, select Multiply
- You will see the multiply icon (that is, *) appear to the immediate right on the variable you selected in Step 4
- Click Value from the Operators panel. A small empty box will appear next to the multiply icon. Click inside this box and type 2 (to multiply the assignment score by 2, thus giving the result out of 100. If the test was out of 10, you would multiply by 10 and so on)
- Click Save (bottom right of the screen)
The system will validate the equation, and all going well, you can now close this panel. In the Gradebook, you will now have a new item that you can use via the Grades Transfer System.
