Chrome and Third Party Cookies

You may have heard Google has recently made some changes to their Chrome web browser and the way it handles something called third party cookies.

This is a positive change as it makes it more difficult for marketing websites to track and follow you around the internet. However, it can also affect websites like E-learning@Tees which use third party products to provide some of its functionality. These third party products use cookies to communicate with E-learning@Tees and to provide you with a more seamless experience without the need to keep logging into different websites.

If you see one or more of the problems detailed below, you will need something called a third party cookie exception to be added to your web browser.

What does the problem look like?

If you are using the Chrome web browser and see this error message when you try to watch a ReView video:

Third Party Cookie Error Using ReView

or this screen for more than 30 seconds when you try to enter a Collaborate online classroom:

Third Part Cookie Error Using Collaborate

or this error message when you try to enter a wiki:

then you will need to add a third party cookie exception to your Chrome web browser.
